The SARNIA BACE campus is designed for safety, flow, and inclusivity. A central pedestrian spine connects domes, gathering spaces, and outdoor courts, while a lighted loop trail links every zone—inviting walkers, spectators, and families to move comfortably without crossing active play areas.
Three large domes provide adaptable turf and multi-court layouts for a variety of sports. The community hub includes studios, change rooms, meeting rooms, and a café/bar with patio views overlooking the action. Outdoor full-size fields, courts, play spaces, and the trail network keep the campus active from morning through evening.
Parking and drop-off areas are placed along the perimeter, keeping vehicles separate from pedestrians. Smart lighting, equipment storage, and intuitive circulation allow for quick transitions between programs and events.
A typical visit is seamless: park once, check in at the welcome area, play, then relax at the café/bar or enjoy a walk on the trail. Weekdays bring school groups and evening leagues; weekends host tournaments and community gatherings. The result is predictable scheduling, strong participation, and a welcoming environment that encourages repeat visits and longer stays.
Initial assessments by D. Grant Walsom B.A.Sc., P.Eng., QP of TRACE Associates confirm the site has no significant environmental concerns and should meet all MECPs standards. While not ideal for residential use, it offers an exceptional opportunity for a multi-use recreation campus that promotes active living, environmental stewardship, and community connection transforming a long-idle parcel into a vibrant public asset.
